We got back last night. It’s a 4.5 hour drive from Frankfort to our house. We had a number of very pleasant hikes (1.5 to 4.5 miles) (one a day) and one day our friends Jacki and JR drove us north to lunch at Leland and then round a few wineries (including one owned by Madonna’s dad). Jill finally got to swim in Lake Michigan yesterday – only a few minutes as the water was still pretty cool. The people we rented from were very pleasant and flexible so Jill delayed our departure until the weather forecast assured us it would be above 70F (21C) each day – it has been a very mild summer this year. The cottage is not designed for all year occupation, in the woods, just one layer of planks for the outside walls, so inside was cold, damp (this cottage was built into the hillside) and dark (did I say it was in the woods?) – but OK for what we needed and the price.
I already have my photos from the trip safely in Lightroom, though I don’t know when I will be getting back to working on them (the photo attached I developed on my laptop while away) (or the photos from England).
