We have managed to get away for five days, almost a year since the last time we managed to get away, and to the same place – this year our friends are still in their cottage, so we have rented one about half a mile away, but still in the same community, just north of Frankfort on Lake Michigan.

This photo is from a short hike today out to Empire Bluffs which is just south of Empire and south of Sleeping Bear Dunes (which thanks to erosion etc are now only about 400ft tall).
