Some years, like this one, photography can slow down after the drama of all that autumnal show. While in a couple of months these temperatures will be welcomed as warm, when the temperature first starts to cool then we experience it as cold. Add to that overcast, blank, skies, and nothing more adventurous than walking in and back from town each day; some years, like this one, there isn’t a lot to get the pulse racing about photography.
And then the snow arrives, and all of a sudden you are in a different world. The familiar is transformed. And you didn’t even have to go anywhere. Shapes become more graphic, scenes become simplified. Now there’s something to photograph.
Of course, there wasn’t much snow and it didn’t stay long, not this time, but it was enough to get me going again, and today, being Saturday I had time to explore the central campus. And as I was walking home I was rewarded with a sun set show.
