Here I am in Portland and Paul’s exercise today built on yesterday’s, as well as being inspired by the color theory work of Rudolph Arnheim. This morning, it had just finished raining so he was eager to head up the road to what looked like a flower farm. Paul’s brief was to have a primary in-focus subject item/area, with a secondary out of focus item/area. On top of that, back in his studio, he wanted me to develop the image with a technique he learnt while on the Paul Wakefield workshop in April in Scotland, some elements of which we have been discussing in the intervening months. He doesn’t have the same software as me, and so I was a bit at sea. This is one of my efforts, though I think the print for this, unlike everything else we have printed this week, looks rather dark. I will hope to be able to repeat (improve upon) this look when I get home and on my computer.
