I didn’t take any photos in January, apart from a token gesture at the start of the month.
Throughout the month, I kept looking out the back window, and seeing possible photos. In particular I would look at this group of Sedum sitting, not that you can tell with all this snow, in one of the islands. I was definitely attracted to photograph it, but of course, it’s very like a photo I’ve already made, and indeed used for January in this year’s calendar.
But today, it was irresistible. I was heading out the door, needed to get downtown, and I just looked, and turned round. I had to take this photo. Of course, the snow is now so deep, I could only take it from the back deck, but I think I was able to isolate it in the way I wanted. Maybe could have used a little more depth of field, to the plants in the sun in the background. Didn’t have the time to study it further, and could barely see anything with the sun beating down.
As to whether I did it, the light I saw, justice, I can’t say. (And I also need to recalibrate my monitor) But certainly, a real start to the year has now been made. Next I need to actually take the camera out with me!
