I don’t think of myself or my camera as suited to action photography, I do everything manual focus after all. Every so often I’ll be somewhere like at the Baylands and someone will come up to me and ask me what I’m seeing, meaning, what birds can I see, and I have to confess that I’m not I’m not there for the birds. But then something happens and I have to take a photo.
Like here, out for a walk with Jill at the Bayshore, off San Antonio Road for a change, and this flock of birds was resting in a dried up pond and every so often someone would walk by and they’d all take off, wheel around for a while and land back, until next time; when I was ready.
The other feature of the walk that day was just how wild the clouds were, with a storm coming in. And indeed, not long after this photo, we had to retreat and leave the rain and the birds to their own devices.
