This project is concerned with the impact on the land, visually as well as environmentally, of how trees are planted and used. I see lots of great trees that I photograph individually or in groups, so that can give an appreciation of what is actually happening on the ground. When you move back, you get a more graphic view of how the landscape is being used.

Although I have been making photographs in this vein for many years in the USA and UK, it was only during a visit to Scotland in 2017 that the importance and place and use of trees in the landscape and ecosystem came together, and so the ideas are most completely developed in this UK gallery.
