Scene from the Train
I feel like I have always been taking photographs from moving transport, when I am not the one doing the driving of course, but the earliest instance I can point to is a car journey in 2000. The basis of this project begins with a train journey on New Year's Eve 2007, on Amtrak's Empire Builder out of Portland, OR heading for Chicago, IL. It's probably fair to say it's easier on Amtrak, as the trains don't go so fast, they have bigger windows and/or viewing cars, and most times are not so crowded. That doesn't mean it's not possible in the UK. Reflections and dirt on the windows are common problems which show it's always a challenge.
