Last weekend we went to St Joseph (SW Michigan on Lake Michigan). We actually stayed just south and I had a good photo session during sunset (despite no sun to set) and then Jill and I had a nice long hike along a beach at a State Park.

Here is a photo from St Joseph itself. There are of course a great many lighthouses in the Great Lakes area, though many are modern automatons like this one. SW Michigan many towns grew up where the many lakes and rivers came into Lake Michigan and frequently the final passageway was straightened and/or otherwise engineered to make it more “useful”.
